This marks my 400th post on this blog. Fact #1: this blog is actually a lot older than 6 years, even though the first entry in its archives are from 2008. I think I started blogging around the start of high school (when blogging was the trendy thing to do, with everyone owning a xanga page... kids these days probably never heard of xanga before) and that would have been more than a decade ago. Blog went through various revamps, entries got lost... till the only thing left from the past is actually... the tagboard (fact #2). Which hardly gets used these days, but it has withstood the test of time thus far.

Today, we head down to the city. Ever since tt and I stopped seeing each other, I hardly go to the city anymore. Scratch that- I don't go to the city anymore, but this was one of the last cafes we discovered and went to together, and it has become a favourite.
One thing I've learnt in all these years is to get neither sentimentally attached nor detached about things, but to simply keep a neutral stand on everything. Which means I can visit places again and again without reminiscing memories and all that kind of sappy things, and instead enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the cafe itself. Perhaps work as a music therapist has de-sensitized a part of my brain.

Originally an Asian supermarket, it is now a Korean fashion cafe. Yup, right next to it is a clothing store, everything is from the Korean brand Kanzi, and the cafe itself has a very rustic quirky feel. I can't say that the interior decorations quite match- it's like a cottage, with paint peeling off the door and brick walls, but dotted with emperor chairs and princess thrones within. They serve a selection of cakes from Hello! Happy, but really, if you want hello! happy cakes, you'll go to the main store in Strathfield. While at Kanzi, check out the cold brew coffee.

I visited this cafe quite a number of times by myself. Most of the time actually, because it's still quite new and unknown so it was never crowded when I went. Having the whole cafe to myself just seems like the perfect way to spend an afternoon, since they also provide free wi-fi :D I think I might have been reading Shingeki no Kyoujin manga on my iPad here for a while... and yes, if I visit Kanzi again, the wi-fi will connect immediately. I heard somewhere that you know you're REALLY good friends with someone when you go over to their place and your devices connect to their wi-fi automatically. Guess I'm really good friends with Kanzi #foreveralone.
Digressing. Their menu is really interesting albeit expensive. Above was their croissant chorizo... their mains are served with a side of pickled cucumber, and to me, these pickles are important because their mains are actually really weird. Normal: ham cheese tomato croissant. Kanzi: Chorizo onion croissant. I didn't mind this because I love croissant (buttery bread, hmm), but strange to have it instead of... say, a hot dog bun.

And it gets weirder. This was their bulgogi beef pattie hamburger, except it's not a hamburger, it's a cinnamon sugar donut. I wouldn't say it's a bad idea, but this is like an alien dish. Not a huge fan of donuts and barely cooked onions, but it sounded so bizarre on the menu, I just had to get it. To break it down, this had sour pickles, spicy onions, tangy barbecue sauce with the salty bulgogi beef pattie, and sweet donut.
Yea, I think my taste buds got pretty confused. They didn't complain, but I think a sandwich might be safer next time.
.... Wait, since when did life get so boring that we must play safe??
